  1. Hello Mrs. Spaulding,

Mr. Spaulding’s PowerPoint Presentation was a great way to share what he has brought to the Wellness Department at the Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy. Something that really touched me was the fourth slide of being the example and techniques to reach out to us students who feel discouraged to work out because they will never be fit or have the ultimate muscles and six pack that other people have. It’s all about being motivated and this is the first year at PMSA that I’ve ever felt motivated to work out in the Wellness course. There are ways that Mr. Spaulding stays motivated and ways that I stay motivated inside of the fitness center. One thing that I have learned from Mr. Spaulding is to appreciate the Wellness course and the fitness center (even though I only see it one day a week due to Research Mentorship) because other schools might not have what we have. Remaining focused involves not talking or looking at things that will distract me from reaching my ultimate goal. I am willing to be the example for others and don’t only like Wellness now, but I LOVE and LOOK FORWARD to those Thursdays I get to be mentored by Mr. Spaulding. Even though I complain about being pushed to the limit and max, I know that my body needs it and that I appreciate Mr. Spaulding challenging me to do something that I have never been able or comfortable to do which is work out around others. I look forward to the Workout Reflections because they are what keep me motivated to take what I have learned in school and apply the knowledge to my everyday life. Many of my friends that do not have Mr. Spaulding’s course complain about how they wish their teachers would make them do Workout Reflections. I don’t do the Workout Reflections for extra credit; I do the Workout Reflections to stay motivated and be inspired to achieve my goal. Being able to inspire Mr. Spaulding and pushing to achieve my goals are things that have motivated me for the first time to take Wellness more seriously and be able to reflect on my journey. I truly thank Mr. Spaulding for motivating me this year.

    No pain no muscle gain,
    NLTIV
